ZO MEDIA PRODUCTIONS, LLC.
Zo Media Productions, LLC is a multi-media publishing and production subsidiary operating under the United Black Family Scholarship Foundation (UBFSF) nonprofit charter. Our core objective is to specifically collect, edit, publish, promote, and disseminate works that deal with the social, political, and economic conditions within America's prison system.
"I often tell people who’ve never experienced prison that we call it “the Zo” — short for “Twilight Zone” — due to the discombobulation that prisoners experience while incarcerated which makes them more dysfunctional than when they entered the system."
THE PAIRING MODEL
Every role in our cooperative is co-held by one incarcerated member and one student volunteer. This ensures that the "Inside" voice drives the creative vision while the "Outside" partner manages digital logistics and internet-dependent tasks.
HUNDRED STORIES PROJECT
We are building the infrastructure to bring 100 distinct narratives from behind the wall to the global market. This includes investigative journalism, poetry, film shorts, and theatrical works.
REVENUE DISTRIBUTION
50% of net profits support the UBFSF Scholarship Fund. 50% is distributed to Cooperative Members.
